Pillows Galore

This past weekend, I went crazy on some pillows.

This was really my first attempt and using zippers and pleats. The bolster pillow was fairly easy once I pinned the pleats. For the zippers, I deconstructed large floor pillows and changed out one panel for the red paisley pattern.I love the sweater pillowcase the most. It's so warm and cozy! That sweater had too many holes, stains, and missing buttons to fix (I'm lazy like that) but I love it MUCH better as a soft pillow.

Enjoy!

Dish Towels

Still practicing my straight lines. This weekend, I picked up a bunch of quilter's quarters. They are the perfect size for dishtowels! I whipped up a couple sets of these for some hostess gifts. Love the colors..

A Birthday Gator Tote

I made this tote over the weekend for my friend's daughter. It's a belated birthday present.

The tote is made from denim (a leg from a reclaimed pair of jeans) with some contrasting orange fabric from a quilter's quarter. Just in time for Gator Football..

Another Tote

I was going to make a new lunch bag this weekend, but never got around to getting batting for the project.

Instead, I made another tote bag! This one is much larger and has bamboo handles that I had bought for a long abandoned project. This one took no time at all to make - less than an hour - and I actually made straight stitches! I made it a little bigger than the Lotta Jansdotter pattern just because I love big bags.

It's a large rectangle, but when I stuff it full of what I need for the day, the top corners like to tuck in. I think I like it like that and am going to add some kind of closure to make sure everything stays tucked in. Here's a shot with it full of my workout clothes. And another of the seems.

Lunch Bags

This will be my next project [tumbling blocks: oilcloth lunch bag].

I'm going to use the vinyl tablecloth from Ikea that I used for part of my cute tote bag.

Simple Sewing Tote pattern from Lotta Jansdotter

I made a cute contrasting tote bag from a pattern from Lotta Jansdotter's book, Simple Sewing. I used an orange vinyl table cloth from Ikea and some left over scraps of a botanical pattern (a fat quarter remnant from the craft store).

I'm pretty pleased at how it turned out! I need to get better at sewing a straight line (don't look at the top too closely!), but it's a true rectangle! This will be my new lunch sack.
